3 Days Mount Kenya Climbing/Hiking Safari to Point Lenana
3 Days Mount Kenya climbing safari starts and ends in Nairobi. This 3 days Mount Kenya (sirimon) hiking adventure forms around loop through Old Moses’ camp, Shipton’s hut to Lenana peak (the third highest point of Mount Kenya) of the Sirimone route and back to Old Moses.
Day 1 of the 3 days Mount Kenya climbing sirimone route begins from Nairobi to the base of Mount Kenya where you will stop over for lunch, a 3-4 hours trek through the forest, bamboo, rosewood and heather zone to Old Moses on day 1.
Take approximately 7-8 hours hike to Shipton’s camp on day 2, and end day 3 by following a technical hike to Lenana peak, thereafter walk down slopes to Old Moses Camp, where you will be driven by road in a 4×4 safari jeep to Nairobi.
Climbing Mount Kenya in 3 days to Lenana point (third highest peak of Mount Kenya), is quite challenging, but ideal for those with minimal amount of time and who want to reach.
Mount Kenya is Africa’s 2nd highest peak but Kenya’s highest among other peaks. The climb follows a one way path through Old Moses and shipton’s camp, which is only recommended for acclimatized mountain hikers with enough physical strength and ability to climb.

Day 1: Nairobi to Old Moses Camp(3,300m) Via Nanyuki
Days 2: Old Moses Camp to Shipton’s Hut (4,236)
Day 3: Shipton’s Hut to Lenana Peak to Nairobi)
Detailed Itinerary for 3 days Mount Kenya Climbing
Day 1: Nairobi to Old Moses Camp (3,300m)
Driving Time: 4hours
Hiking Duration: 3-4 hrs
Length: 9km Ascent: 860m
Following your breakfast early in the morning, a safari driver guide from Aloyo Safaris pick you up from the hotel at 0600hrs, then transfer you Northwards through the central highlands to Sirimon gate of Mount Kenya for registration and lunch break. Along the way, you will drive towards Nyeri which offers impressive views of Mt. Kenya and the Aberdares ranges on a clear day, and stop to rest at the Equator advjascent to Nanyuki. It is at this point where you will meet your porters, cook, and food suppliers with whom you will reach Sirimon Gate 2,650m for registration.
Thereafter, along with proper hiking gear, you will set off for a 3-4 hours’ trek from Sirimon gate, ascending through the tropical rain forest to the heather region reaching the Old Moses camp for dinner & Overnight rest.
Day 2: Old Moses Camp to Shipton Camp(4,200m)
Hiking duration: 6-7hrs
Distance: 14km Ascent:900m
Wake up for breakfast early in the morning, and depart for Shipton Camp following the narrow trail towards the new weather station. You will pass through the moorland as you expect to see flowers, animals and birds arriving At Shipton camp in the late afternoon 4,200m. ( 6-7hs)

Day 3: Shipton Camp to Point Lenana (4,895m) to Old Moses Camp) to Nairobi
Hiking Duration: 9hrs Distance: 21km
You will wake up early for a cup of coffee, then set off at 3am for the summit, where you will trek along the lose scree, which at times is covered by the snow, all through the Lenana peak (4985m). Upon arrival, spend some few minutes celebrating your victory, enjoy the breathtaking view of the mount Kenya surrounding and Mount Kilimanjaro from the far South and later on descend to Shipton camp. Ehere you you will connect to the old Moses Camp. You will then continue downwards with the car to Nanyuki where you will drop the porters and the guides, there by arriving in your reserved lodge in Nairobi
descend down to Old Moses where you will connect a transfer car off the mountain to Nanyuki where you will drop the porters and then drive back to Nairobi arriving in the evening.
PHYSICAL FITNESS
Due to the nature of the exercise, you need to prepare your body well. It is recommended you do daily cardio-based exercises before the hike. We have prep hikes organized every weekend & private on weekdays for your support and it would be great to attend them.

FOOD & SNACKS
Meals will be provided, as well as basic snacks like cookies, biscuits, and fruits. You should also bring your own energy snacks for the duration of the hike. Based on your preference, you can consider nuts, candy, energy bars, soda/beverage, Energy Sachets, Apples, and fruits. Main meals are prepared and served at camp. They include common starch, vegetables, soup, and meat. Any special dietary requirements such as diabetic, vegetarian, lactose intolerant, non-beef must be communicated in advance.
