6 days marangu Route

This 6 days Marangu route takes you through the famous, most easy and shortest way to Kilimanjaro Peak(Uhuru). The Coca Cola route takes a minimum of 5 days to complete, but mountaineers are always urged to take a full day off for proper acclimatization before ascending to Uhuru Peak.

The Marangu root comprises of well built camps all through from the base to the peak, and passes through all the climate zones

Day 1: Marangu gate to Mandara hut

From Moshi, you will depart for Marangu gate, where you will register and pick  up your trekking permit. Thereafter, your trek begins instantly, as you pass through the rainforest to Mandara hut.  You will also have the chance to acclimatize by  touring the Maundi Crater. Dinner and overnight at Mandara Hut.

Day 2: Mandara hut to Horombo hut.

Following your morning breakfast, you will walk, passing through the rainforest to Horombo hut where you will traverse through the rolling moorlands, till you see the first clear view of breathtaking Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at horombo hut.

Day 3: Horombo hut

On this day, you will use it to acclimatize by touring the Mawenzi ridge or the Zebra Rock, to make your body adjust to the higher altitudes. Afterwards you will return to Horombo hut for lunch, resting until dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Horombo hut to Kibo hut

Have breakfast and trek beyond the last water point to reach saddle area, a great desert connecting the two peaks Mawenzi and Kibo. Settle down and have early dinner then an overnight rest at Kibo hut.

Day 5: Summit Day Kibo Hut camp to Uhuru peak to Horombo Hut camp

Rise up to light breakfast then set off for your summit ascent. In your warm  Kilimanjaro trekking gear, you will start descending, slowly by slowly “pole-pole” for the first 5 hours to Gilman’s Point on the edge of the crater at 5,861 m/18,640 ft. At this point, you will be rewarded with beautiful views of the renowned crater and its icecaps facing you. Proceed then for 2 hours of hiking along the Kibo crater rim close the famous snow layers, which takes you to Kilimanjaro’s summit, Uhuru Peak. It’s from here that you will spend quality time taking photos. After your peak photos, slope down to Kibo Huts to enjoy your lunch, then  continue downwards to cross the saddle to the Horombo Huts for the second time. Have dinner and overnight stay at Horombo Camp.

Day 6: Horombo Huts camp to Marangu Gate to Moshi

Wake up for breakfast and proceed with  your descent through the moorland to Mandara Huts. Here you will have lunch then proceed to Marangu park gate, where you will meet your driver guide who will take you back to the Lodge in Moshi.
